Class Curriculum
Lower Division

First Steps (3.5 yrs.) 35 minute class, White Leotard
Skills are introduced in their most basic form to initiate the process of building a solid foundation, helpful in future dance study. Concentration is on establishing developmental skills needed to execute a dance step. Since this will be one of the first classroom experiences for most students, classroom etiquette will be gently introduced. Parents are asked to remain in their car on the property in case your young dancer needs you..(Current Covid-19 protocols) 

​ NEW! Magical Movement 1 (3.5 - 4.5 yrs.) / Magical Movement 2- (5-7 yrs.) 45 minute class, Fuchsia Leotard
Dancers will be read to/or will read books and dance out the movement of the characters of the book. We will be visiting everything from Tanya to Terrapins.

Music & Movement with Tap (4.5 - 6 yrs.) 60 minute class, Pink Leotard 
This class works on developing gross and fine motor skills. Acquiring musical skills helps the brain acquire knowledge that seems to be organized in the same way as you learn math. We work on listening, interpretive and imaginary abilities to form the movement concept. We use a variety of hand instruments for rhythms and counting skills. Basic elements of Ballet are introduced.

 NEW! Dance, Dream, Design Class (6-8 yrs.) 75 minute class, Fuchsia Leotard
Maintaining a technique structure of Basic Ballet, the class will venture into the world of treasure box dress ups and art projects which will inspire the dancers imagination.

NEW! Contemporary Dance & Music Appreciation (7-9 yrs.) 60 minute class, Grape Leotard
Contemporary/modern/lyrical  dance movement and music appreciation.

Ballet- Level 1 (5 - 8 yrs.) 45 minute class, Violet Leotard
            Level 2 (7- 10 yrs.) 60 minute class, Lt. Blue Leotard
A continuation of Music & Movement with more emphasis on understanding the basic concepts of classical ballet. Students are introduced to the order of the barre and basic combinations. All elements of Ballet 1 & 2 must be achieved before advancing to A Level Ballet. Both levels have corresponding tap classes before or after ballet.

NEW! ​A level Ballet and Classical Ballet Stories (7-9 yrs.) 75 minute class, Royal Blue Leotard
Ballet class will be Vaganova technique combined with story telling of the full length classical ballets.

NEW! A level Ballet and Impressionistic Art (Edgar Degas) (9-12 yrs.) 75 minute class, Royal Blue Leotard
Ballet class will be Vaganova technique combined with the study of Impressionistic art.

Tap Class- Class length depends on corresponding Ballet class, Leotard color same as Ballet level
First introduced to dancers within the Music & Movement classes. Tap is very important for beginner ballet dancers. It helps establish rhythm, develops muscles needed to perform continued ballet technique, and enhances coordination. When dancers reach A level Ballet, Tap is taken as a separate class. Beginning tap levels are basic hoofing and Intermediate classes are a variety of styles.

Jazz/Modern/Hip Hop (7 -10 yrs.) 60 minute class, Red Leotard
The dancer looking for a sampling of styles of movement is introduced to Ballet (core basic of all dance), Jazz, Modern Dance, and Hip Hop elements. This class may be taken as an individual class.

Jazz/Modern/Hip Hop (11 and up) 60 minute class, Red Leotard
Dancers wanting to continue with a variety class of Jazz, Modern and Hip Hop. This class moves at a faster pace with more advanced movements.

Vaganova Ballet Syllabus Levels- 
The first years of the Vaganova Ballet training lays the groundwork for continuation into more advanced technique. All class work is a concentrated effort of both physical and mental self-discipline. Our classes are graded A Levels 1,2,/ Foundations/ B Levels 1,2,3,4/ C and D. Dancers in the A & B Levels are required to purchase their ballet text.

A-1 Ballet   (9- 12 yrs.) 60 or 75 minute class, Royal blue Leotard
The first year of the Vaganova training lays the ground work for continuation into more advanced technique. All class work is a concentrated effort of both physical and mental self-discipline.

Foundation Levels (7 - 13 yrs.) Class length depends on level, Minimum 2 Ballet classes per week, Turquoise Leotard
The Foundation class is for dancers ready to attend at least two ballet classes per week. As levels increase, so do the number of classes required per week. Dancers who show a definite talent/passion for dance and are interested in furthering their artistry. This is the path towards going en pointe.

Character Ballet- Requires Black Character Skirt and Shoes
Class focuses on the Eastern European Folk dances used in classical Ballet. Dancers in the Foundation level and above should participate in this class.

Upper Division

Vaganova Ballet Syllabus- B & C, Maroon Leotard / D, Black Leotard
The levels of the eight year syllabus are a graduated program, dancers increase in number of classes to continue proper training. Levels are letters of the Alphabet. All dancers in the ballet program need to have Ballet notebooks. Dancers preparing for pointe are in the B1 Level. All beginning pointe dancers take a minimum of two ballet classes per week.

Adult Selections- Adults may drop in and pay per class, purchase a punch card for 10 classes or register for the entire session.

Pilates- Basic (Teen/Adult) 45 minute class, work out attire
              Beyond Basic (Teen/Adult) 60 minute class
This class is geared for the person interested in personal fitness. Class is divided into stretching exercises with proper alignment and concentrates on breathing. We also use a Pilates Ring, which we will provide... Dress in work out wear and bring a workout mat. Class is based on following the 6 Principles of Joseph Pilates by a certified instructor. 

NEW! Adult Barre and Stretch Band (40+ yrs.) 60 minute class, workout attire
Class geared for mature person wanting to increase stretch ability and strength. 

Yoga Basic (Teen/Adult) 75 minute class
Yoga with emphasis on stretching and proper breathing. Dress in work out wear and bring a workout mat.
Limited loaner mats available.

Teen/Adult Ballet- Class length based on class skill level, Solid colored leotard
Basic ballet for Adults to establish the foundation of ballet while toning and lengthening muscles. Continuing classes as skill level increases, Ballet Basics, Beyond Basics, Intermediate.

Tap -
Adult dancers may take a single trial tap class to check their ability . Adult Tap classes available in Beginner Basics, Beyond Basics, and Intermediate levels.

Jazz/Modern Dance 60 minute class 
Intermediate level class continuing exploration of styles including but not limited to Fosse, Graham, and Horton.

Sacred Liturgical Dance
Christian dancers with ballet background can use this class to "Praise His Name In Dance" (Psalms 149.3)
